Skid Row is an American heavy metal band, formed in 1986 in Toms River, New Jersey. They are named after Phil Lynott and Gary Moore's first band. They were most successful in the late 1980s and early 1990s when their first two albums with lead singer Sebastian Bach and drummer Rob Affuso were multi-platinum successes. Their current line-up consists of Johnny Solinger (vocals), Dave "The Snake" Sabo (guitar), Scotti Hill (guitar), Rachel Bolan (bass) and Dave Gara (drums). As of the end of 1996 the band has sold over 20 million albums worldwide. As of 2008, Skid Row has released five full-length albums, an EP, a compilation album, and a live album. They became popular with their first two albums, Skid Row and Slave to the Grind, which are often considered their best-known works to date. Their last full-length studio album, Revolutions per Minute, came out on October 24, 2006. They are often associated with glam metal, partly due to their image on their debut album, Skid Row, which spawned the hits "18 and Life", "Youth Gone Wild", and "I Remember You" for the band. They would eventually go on to foster an image base geared toward more traditional heavy metal and hard rock audiences.

POISON, GRUP BERPENGARUH ERA 80-90AN

Poison was formed in 1983 under the name Paris and consisted of lead vocalist Bret Michaels, guitarist Matt Smith, bassist Bobby Dall, and drummer Rikki Rockett. Moving to Los Angeles on March 6, 1984, they started playing big clubs and several other clubs. The name Poison was picked by the band after seeing Spinal Tap. During this period, Poison's manager negotiated a deal under which the West Hollywood club, The Troubador, would pay for shows.^[3] At this time, Smith left the band to return home to Pennsylvania, which lead to an audition session that was won by C.C. DeVille. Michaels, Dall, Rockett and DeVille signed to independent label Enigma Records in 1986 (see 1986 in music) for approximately $30,000. Their debut album, Look What the Cat Dragged In, was released August 2, 1986. It included one single, "Cry Tough". Look What the Cat Dragged In produced three hits: "Talk Dirty to Me", "I Want Action", and "I Won't Forget You".^[4] In 1987 the band also recorded a cover of the Kiss song "Rock and Roll All Nite" for the soundtrack to Less Than Zero. Poison's third album, Flesh & Blood, was released June 21, 1990. It also was highly successful, peaking at #2. It too features an alternate cover, as the original featured what appeared to be running ink or possibly blood from a tattoo. (Subsequent versions of this cover removed the "extra" ink.) The record went multi-platinum, spawning three gold singles: "Unskinny Bop," "Ride the Wind," and the ballad "Something To Believe In". The last single released was the title cut, "Flesh & Blood (Sacrifice)". The video was banned from MTV due to its explicit nature, but did surface later in the video compilation Flesh, Blood & Videotape, in early 1991. The album's success prompted the impetus for a further world tour. One of the band's few appearances in the UK was on August 18, 1990 at Donington's Monsters of Rock festival in the summer of 1990. Whitesnake headlined with Aerosmith, Quireboys and Thunder supporting them. This event was broadcast on BBC Radio 1. Poison recorded several performances during its 1990/1991 Flesh & Blood tour, which were released in November 1991 as the band's fourth album, Swallow This Live. The double album features live tracks from Poison's first three studio albums and four new studio tracks, which were the last recorded before C.C. DeVille's departure from the band later that year.

NIDJI BAND

Nidji atau The Nidji adalah grup musik yang berkomposisi enam orang asal Jakarta yang terdiri dari Giring (vokal), Rama dan Ariel (guitar), Adrie (drum), Andro (bass) dan Run-D (keyboard). Nidji merupakan penyempurnaan nama dari kata NIJI yang diambil dari bahasa Jepang yang berarti pelangi. Para personil telah menyukai dan menyetujui konsep dengan nama itu, karena kata Nidji sangat merefleksikan warna musik mereka yang beragam serta berbeda satu sama lain, namun bias membiaskannya dalam satu warna musik. Konsep musik Nidji adalah modern rock yang memadukan unsur-unsur lain, seperti progresif, funk, alternatif, dan pop. Grup-grup band yang secara tidak langsung mempengaruhi dan menjadi inspirasi terhadap corak musik Nidji, antara lain L'Arc-en-ciel, Coldplay, Goo Goo Dolls, U2, Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins, The Verve, Dave Matthews, The Killers, Keane, dan sebagainya. Sejarah awal terbentuknya band Nidji yaitu dari persahabatan antara Rama dan Andro. Persahabatan mereka berkembang terus dalam dunia musik. Selanjutnya bersama Ariel yang telah bergabung dengan mereka, terciptalah sebuah lagu berjudul "Maria". Namun lagu itu belumlah sempurna dan masih membutuhkan sebuah vokal. Kemudian mereka bertemu dengan Giring yang selanjutnya dapat melengkapi lagu "Maria" dengan mengisi vokal pada lagu tersebut. Setelah itu, Andro merekomendasikan Adri yang sebelumnya telah sering melakukan jam session bersamanya untuk menempati posisi sebagai drummer. Mereka berempat (Ariel, Andro, Adri dan Giring) lalu menghubungi Rama yang sempat terpisah sebelum terciptanya lagu "Maria" untuk mencoba bermain musik bersama hingga akhirnya menemukan kecocokan visi dan misi. Pada awal Februari tahun 2002, terbentuklah Nidji dalam formasi awal. Lalu pada awal April tahun 2005, Nidji menambah personilnya sehingga berjumlah enam, yaitu seorang keyboardist bernama Randy yang merupakan sahabat dari Giring, sang vokalis. Gaya 'memetik jambu' Giring saat menyanyi membuat Nidji menjadi band yang unik dan atraktif.
